Vari-Grip Dead-end
The Vari-Grip Dead-end, also known as Adjust-A-Grip Guy Deadend or Adjustable Guy Deadend, is a high-strength guying device engineered for transmission, antenna, and communications guyed structures. The device consists of a U-bolt, housing, wedges, spacer bar, retaining rods, hex nuts, and an anti-tamper nut with a set screw. Its unique housing, wedge, and rod assembly provides 100% holding strength of the strand’s rated breaking load, and it’s compatible with various guy strand materials, including galvanized steel and aluminum-coated strands ranging from 7/16″ to 1.78″ (20,800 – 295,500 lbs).
The VARI-GRIP Dead-end installation requires proper tensioning, with guy tension maintained at least 5% of strength rating during structure erection and 10% after final tensioning. The device allows for easy adjustment of guy tensions without requiring a turnbuckle, making it versatile for various guyed structure applications. The newer Gen2 version offers proper U-bolt support without conformal castings and features a lighter design while maintaining the same holding strength.
