Optical Tension Device
The Optical Tension Device, also known as OTD, is engineered for the precise pulling of OPGW fiber cables to their final sag tension. This device is crucial for ensuring that the cable is installed correctly and maintains optimal performance. Once the desired tension is achieved, a permanent dead-end device should be installed to secure the cable, allowing for the safe removal of the tensioning device. The Optical Tension Device accommodates OPGW cables with diameters ranging from 0.350″ to 0.820″ and supports a load rating of up to 5,000 lb (24.4 kN).
Constructed from high-strength aluminum alloy, the Optical Tension Device features pivoting hardened steel eye bolt assemblies for quick installation. The design includes spherical nuts and washers to ensure even load distribution, while the angled steel bail prevents damage during tensioning operations. Various configurations are available to suit specific OPGW manufacturers, making this device versatile for different applications in fiber optic installations.
